Quilting could simply be defined as the process of sewing two more layers together to make a thicker padded material, usually to make a quilt or a quilted garment. Generally, quilting is carried out using three layers: Quilt top (top fabric), batting (insulating material), and backing material but many different styles are adopted. Quilting is done to create bedspreads, art quilt wall hangings, clothing, and a large variety of textile products.
