Introduction to the Clinical Practice Guideline Manual
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is responsible for the creation of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), which act as a framework for clinical decisions and provide support for best practices. Statements containing recommendations designed to improve patient care are referred to as clinical practice guidelines. They are based on an evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of alternative care options and a systematic review of the evidence.
