In every house there's countless stuff which are thrown away because they have served but one purpose. Thread spools and cotton reels may be taken as an instance.

It does not occur to most people that these little wooden articles, strongly made and well-finished may, be put to good use when the thread has been wound from them. Yet from them quite useful stuff and nifty toys can easily be made.

And so, it is with many other things-match boxes, broken clothes pins, cocoa tins, herb tins, eggshells, cigar boxes, nut shells, corks, old broom handles: there is no end to the list.
