A gripping story of heartache and intrigue.

1559. A girl arrives in London to search for her brother.

Aalia, an awkward, arrogant teenager plans to bring William to his senses, until she discovers that both their lives are based on a lie.

Aalia must unravels a web of secrets but has the weight of her past to contend with.

Courageous and undisciplined, Aalia gradually comes to terms with the truth that William, her brother, has royal blood.

Deciding to undermine the men who want to use him as a pawn, Aalia must negotiate a world where secrecy arms the powerful. But unwilling to ask for anyone’s help she is forced into making a fateful decision.

Who can she trust when everyone around her is plotting? Is the truth really something worth dying for?

This epic story of secrets and betrayal paints a vivid picture of Elizabethan England and asks questions that span beyond the test of time.

About the Author

Angela’s love of writing rekindled when her son David joined the British Figure Skating Squad. She was invited to write a regular column for iSkate Magazine describing the highs and lows of being an international skater’s mum and the discipline of writing for an audience helped harness the stories which haunted her dreams. Born in London her family escaped to Kent where she enjoyed a magical childhood. At fourteen she won a national competition for writing but unable to afford university she left school at sixteen and studied design at Medway College of Art. Although she found a perfect job in London, making costumes for film and television, she couldn’t stay long because the wage barely covered her travel expenses. Having met her soul-mate, a goldsmith called Michael, the need to fund their dreams meant a lucrative job in Mayfair, creating clothes for an exclusive clientele. After setting up home in Essex Angela found work with a local theatrical costumier and wrote children’s stories in her spare time. They then moved to a fairytale cottage in Paglesham but a season of disasters forced them to take a leap of faith. Michael accepted a job in Carlisle and life changed forever. Finding a ramshackle cottage in Cumbria they filled it with two children and a medley of animals. They set-up a bespoke jewellery company and Angela went back to study part-time to hone her skills as a writer. When a Durham-based film company commissioned Michael to make iconic jewellery for their history documentaries the producer offered Angela a job as head of costume and she couldn’t resist the adventure. Life is a story. Writing as A.S. King her work is published in various anthologies including Dark Minds (Bloodhound Books), Happily Never After (C & P Writers) and Wiza Words (Wigton Creative Writers).
