This Spiritual Nursing Care Self-Learning Book (SLB) provides students with a framework for spiritual care for patients and their families. A holistic caregiver must understand spirituality and nursing practice, including the history of nursing as a practice and profession, the nature of the nurse-patient relationship, and the role of spiritual care. Contemporary theories and models of spiritual care, including end-of-life nursing, provide a framework for understanding the relationship between the art of caring, nursing, and professional practice. This book will examine the relationship between spirituality and nursing practice, focusing on major theological frameworks, particularly the Islamic worldview. However, a non-religious perspective would be addressed to better comprehend faith apart from religion and how it might be included in spiritual nursing care, especially those who do not follow any religious tradition. Both the caregiver and the patient's spiritual needs will be identified and addressed. The book is divided into ten chapters. These lessons would set the framework for learning about spiritual nursing care and, more importantly, practicing it. Because this is only an introduction, these topics will be discussed in greater depth in the next chapters. While compassion and empathy cannot be taught explicitly, I hope that by the end of the chapters, you will have become a more tolerant, empathic, and compassionate human being capable of connecting with others on multiple levels, as well as with yourself, of gaining a better understanding of the term "caring," which is at the heart of the nursing practice. While it is difficult to cover everything in this book, we will do our best to make sure that you, as a student, get the most out of it. With our joint efforts, I am confident that the learning process will remain unchanged if not enhanced.
