Discover, or rekindle, a new passion in this learn-as-you-stitch practical course by sewing extraordinaire, blogger and writer, Debbie von Grabler-Crozier. Following her friendly, clear instructions, master the essential machine sewing skills you've always wanted to conquer while making something cute and useful for you and your home in the process - and all in a short space of time. 25 projects in total, broken down into different sections - fabric, interfacing, quilting, etc. - designed especially by Debbie to take you from the beginner to the confident sewist. Find the answers to those awkward sewing questions you were too afraid to ask - fabric grain, seam allowance, zipper feet, interfacing, free-motion embroidery, patching, quilting and more - and discover new techniques that will not only make machine sewing easier but give your designs that professional finish. A concise list of what you in your essential sewing kit included, along with advice on additional, useful items you can pick up on your sewing journey once you've gained a little more experience. Each project starts with a break-down of the method first, with helpful photography, so you are never thrown into the deep end! The standard pattern is then introduced, with Debbie's helpful tips in the margins, so you can familiarise yourself with the standard sewing pattern format.

About the Author

Debbie has been involved in writing and the craft world for pretty much all of her life but in 1997 she made it into a profession, qualifying formally in journalism and writing patterns and a couple of columns for magazines and newspapers across four continents. She is inspired by nature, travel and history, ancient worlds, steampunk or just a walk in the woods. You name it. She writes about so much more than craft - she loves travel writing, photography and just simply commenting about some of the ridiculous things that happen in our lives.

Writing has led her through the world of teaching, and she has written more craft pattern packets than she cares to mention! She has also self-published seven books on subjects ranging from templates for embroidery designs to a cancer self-help book. She designs sewing, papercraft, scrapbooking, card, beading, jewellery and mixed media projects, as well as patterns for quilts.

Postcard Reviews Jan 2020
Unlike conventional beginners' guides, this book will get you making something straight away, without having to wade through pages of materials and basic techniques first. In addition, the quick little projects are usable, make great gifts for friends and family, are brilliant for using up scraps of fabric, and are ideal for fitting into a busy lifestyle whether you are looking after children, working or travelling.

With 25 projects and a double sided pattern sheet it is a complete lesson on how to sew.
Every project has a different skill to learn. From zips to applique, there are helpful tips and finishing ideas to guide through each process. This bright colourful book is perfect for a complete novice, but the projects are brilliant for gift ideas for every lover of sewing. I love how the ideas included are great for stash busting. Some using just a small amount of fabric, and can be completed in an afternoon.
