About the Author


Justice Don Mitchell, CBE, (Retd) was born in 1946 in St Kitts to a Grenadian-Vincentian father and an Anguillian-Kittitian mother, and grew up in Trinidad and Jamaica. He finished his education in England in the days before there was a Law School in the West Indies. After practising law in St Kitts and Anguilla for some 30 years, he retired to become a High Court Judge, and subsequently acted on the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court of Appeal before his retirement in 2013. He has served the region not only as a Judge but also by providing historical and other information on his websites http: //books.ai/ and http: //donmitchellcbeqc.blogspot.com/ He taught advanced level law at the 6th Form of the Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive school for 8 years until his replacement by barrister Stanley E Reid. Stanley E. Reid, OBE, holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (with Honours) from the University of the West Indies and a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School. He also pursued studies as an external student of the University of London. In 1997 he obtained a Masters of Law Degree and in 2010 a Master of Science Degree in Public Policy and Management from that institution. Mr. Reid is the Principal in his Legal and Consultancy Practice, SER Legal & Consultancy Services. He began his legal career as Crown Counsel in the Attorney General's Chambers and was called to the Bar in Anguilla in 1994. During his time in the Anguilla Public Service he has served as Senior Crown Counsel in the Attorney General's Chambers, Permanent Secretary, Public Administration in the Department of Public Administration and Deputy Governor of Anguilla. He also acted as Magistrate, Registrar, Attorney General and Governor of Anguilla. Together they have co-written the Third Edition of the textbooks for Anguilla on Criminal Law, The Law of Contract, The Law of Tort, Principles of Public Law (Constitutional and Administrative Law), The Law of Real Property, and Caribbean Legal Systems.
