Description

Ever since Mary Shelley's novel, Frankestein (1818), the possibility of giving man a new body has ignited human fantasy. This possibility turned into reality in 1970, when neurosurgeon Robert White carried out the first head transplantation in a living animal. But the result was only partial, as the spinal cord could not be reconnected. Now, in the XXI century, that obstacle has been removed. Dr Sergio Canavero shook the world in 2013 with the HEAVEN head transplantation project. Thanks to a spinal cord fusion protocol of novel conception (GEMINI), the race is on to perform the first head transplantation in man. And one day -thanks to cloning- make you...immortal.

He is a leading expert in the field of electrical and chemical neuromodulation: he invented extradural motor cortex stimulation for Parkinson disease, bifocal cortical stimulation for the vegetative state and co-introduced extradural cortical stimulation for stroke rehabilitation. His books include: Central Pain Syndrome (Cambridge University Press, 2007, 2011), Textbook of Therapeutic Cortical Stimulation (Nova Sci., 2009), Textbook of Cortical Brain Stimulation (De Gruyter Open, 2014) and Immortal: Why Consciousness is not in the Brain (CSIPS/AMAZON, 2014), and, in Italian, two books on human sexual behavior, Donne Scoperte e Uomini a Nudo (Ed.Clandestine, 2005 and 2007). He is universally known for his HEAVEN/GEMINI project of head-body transplantation. He also made the news following publication of his project of cortical neuromodulation for psychopaths.
