About the Author


About the author. Malcolm McCrae was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1980 and currently lives in Sikeston, Missouri. He is a full time author, speaker and artist that embraces creativity and art as a lifestyle. He has been a recognized internationally as a leading airbrush artist for over 15 years. McCrae has produced a number of instructional videos and books that has inspired a new generation of artists. Malcolm's work has been exhibited at galleries, festivals, and is now touring with the African American Contemporary Art Exhibit. He describes his work as "Urban Fusion," fusion of life experiences, passion, and creativity. McCrae said the most important aspects of what he does is not only to create, but to inspire. He especially focuses on working with young artists. McCrae said art has opportunity and power to change lives. "I'm one of those people who can honestly say that,"There have been many instances in my life growing up in an urban environment, where I was that at-risk youth that everyone talks about, but the art and creativity saved my life." McCrae's father was an art teacher for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America while the family lived in Milwaukee. After school, McCrae would often join him in meetings. His father also had a T-shirt screen printing business, which fueled McCrae's interest in art. Malcolm decided to follow that path and began working out of his basement, on a corner and eventually in a music store. He used his skills to earn money for his family and to stay out of trouble. Currently Teaching is also one of McCrae's passions he also instructs workshops and classes teaching educators and young artist. He is also a regular contributor to numerous domestic and international magazines, for which he writes art criticism.
