Got Diabetes? I Do, 54 Years & Counting...My story is about some of the events that happened to me during my battle with a very serious illness - Diabetes Type I which I have had for 54 years and counting. In 1958 at the age of 18 with a 6 month old son, I was very sick and eventually diagnosed with Diabetes Type I. My story is about some of the events that happened to me while raising three children and a husband. In those early years I had no education or information about how to care for myself and live with my disease. There were very few diet foods or drinks and counting carbs was not as sophisticated as it is today. This is about my personal experiences and all the different changes and improvements that have occurred during my 54 years with diabetes. Audrey Hamilton lives near Olympia, Washington with her husband Jim of 56 years and their beloved dog Trixie.
