About the Author

Frank Leon Barnes was born on a farm near Leedey, Oklahoma September 1, 1923. After serving as a nose gunner on a B-24 Liberator Bomber in World War II he attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. His ministry in Oklahoma included a mission church in Mehan, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Jennings, and served four and one half years as Southern Baptist's first missionary to the Cheyenne Indians near Hammon. Frank taught school for three years during these early years of ministry. He and Betty Jo Howard of Duncan, Oklahoma married in 1951 and they have three children, James Barnes, Judy Gregory and Jean Kelso who live in Texas. Frank spent thirty-five years in the Northwest where he was pastor of the First Baptist Church in Kellogg, Idaho for six and one-half years and pastor of Pines Baptist Church, Spokane, Washington for twenty-six years. While living in Spokane he served ten years as a trustee for the Golden Gate Baptist Seminary in Mill Valley, California, and two years as president of the Northwest Baptist Convention. After retiring as pastor he was Director of Missions in the Coulee Baptist Association in Washington. Frank has developed a unique study of the Tabernacle using reproductions of each piece of furniture in the exact size and shape of those used in the Old Testament. The study reveals how the Tabernacle and each piece of furniture portray some aspect of the person and ministry of Christ. This program has been presented many times and in ten different states: Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. Frank has self-published two books, From Hay Creek To Heaven and B-24 Nose Gunner and a number of other booklets and tracts.
