Description

Hilda and Nadin are two women whose lives have been sadly shaped by the bitter truths of their homeland, Avram. Hilda, a well-known author living in the Netherlands, starts to have spiritual enlightenment while writing her autobiography. In Schiphol airport on her way to Mallorca, Hilda encounters Nadin, an Avramian banker, and experiences great amazement. In addition to her curiosity about who Nadin is, in the following days, Hilda gradually learns that Nadin is somehow connected to the accomplishment of her enlightenment. But there are many obstacles that Hilda must overcome to reach her again - chief among them, the brutal dictatorship in Avram. Avram, an island state located in the Mediterranean Sea, is ruled by Diran Roke. Few dare to protest his despotic rule because he imposes heavy penalties for people who oppose him. Then an anonymous graffiti artist, Horus, bravely paints a large graffiti criticizing the oppressor in a well-traveled public place. Horus' works and his bloody death by police will trigger the process of change inside the country, and this change will affect Hilda and Nadin particularly. While writing my novel, I tried to look closer at how the winds of change, suddenly arising and raging through a country, inspire both fear and courage in that country's people. Those who, like Hilda, resolve to leave their country because of economic and political pressures as well as those who, like Nadin, try to stay despite the oppressive conditions, find themselves in my story because Hilda and Nadin have many common points between them, as both have with me.
