Description
Foreign trade is one of the many indices by which a country's economic progress can be measured. An increase in a country's foreign trade does usually indicate its advance in economic efficiency. A nation's prosperity cannot be said to vary directly or at all exactly with the amount of its foreign trade because the latter is determined by other factors besides productivity. But still, the prosperity of a country and the contentment of its people depend mainly, if not entirely, upon the course of its trade and commerce. Naturally, it will be proper and desirable to keep a finger on the pulse of foreign trade and to maintain the closest touch with its movement.
