The prospect of spending summer vacation sailing in the Grenadines with his cousin Matt and his older sister Carol wasn’t an appealing one for Regan. His cousin and sister have little time for him, and the three young people never get along. Regan seems to lose every argument.

Then disaster strikes – the kids find themselves adrift on a dinghy with no food and little water, facing a furious tropical storm and voracious sharks. Their survival will depend on their resourcefulness and the work they accomplish together.

Storm-Blast is a white-knuckle tale full of adventure and courage.

About the Author

Curtis Parkinson grew up in Kingston, Ontario. He graduated from Queen’s University and worked as a chemical engineer for many years. Then he moved to the Caribbean to live on a sailboat and to write. As he says: “Many rejections later, the cat fell off the boat one night, and this story became my first published work, a picture book.” Two more picture books and several short stories followed. Storm-Blast, his first novel, is set in the Caribbean Sea that he learned to love and respect. Curtis Parkinson has returned to Ontario, where he lives with his wife.

Praise For…

“With his ear for naturalistic dialogue, ability to move the plot along at a brisk pace, and eye for just the right amount of descriptive detail to evoke setting, Parkinson has written a survival novel which will be thoroughly enjoyed by readers in the middle years. Storm-Blast is a not-to-be-missed addition to the elementary or junior high library, and Curtis Parkinson an author to be watched by those involved with selecting fiction for young readers.”
CM Magazine

“…boys and girls will be drawn along by the adventure’s brisk pace and vivid writing.”
