About the Author


Hans Holzer (1920–2009) was born and raised in Vienna, Austria, before moving to the United States. He became fascinated by the supernatural at an early age through the stories his uncle told him. His research took him to haunted houses all over the world, including the notorious Long Island house that inspired the film The Amityville Horror. After earning a master’s degree in comparative religion and a doctorate in parapsychology at the London College of Applied Science, he went on to teach parapsychology at the New York Institute of Technology. He was a Wiccan high priest as well as a vegan. Known as “the Father of the Paranormal,” he wrote over 140 books on psychic phenomena, including Ghost Hunter, America’s Restless Ghosts, Ghosts I’ve Met, and Life Beyond. He wrote, produced, and appeared in a number of television documentaries, including NBC’s In Search Of. . . . He lived in New York City.
 
Second-generation ghost hunter and writer Alexandra Holzer attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, following the example of her mother, Artist Countess Catherine Buxhoeveden, who was related to Catherine the Great. She is co-founder of her global organization, Hunt with Holzer, through which her research continues into the unknown.
