After spending his college career playing basketball at The University of Arizona, Fendi Onobun felt he was finally in reaching distance of his dream, the NBA. Onobun had to face the unexpected reality that despite years of hard work and immense success, he was not going to get drafted to the NBA. This reality was earth shattering for someone who had worked his whole life towards this one goal, but after much soul searching, Onobun picked himself up and did the impossible. He switched sports. His senior year Onobun decided to begin training to play football. He took out a school loan allowing him to remain at The University of Arizona for one more year, and made the bold decision to try out for the football team. Onobun not only made the team but had such a successful season he was eligible to be drafted into the NFL. Fendi Onobun was drafted to the St. Louis Rams in the 6th round of the 2010 NFL draft. Onobun's story of perservence, faith, and strength is truly inspiring. He wants to share his experiences of overcoming obstacles with youth who may find themselves challenged when their life long dreams are not a reality. Fendi Onobun believes everyone has a true path meant for them, which means sometimes plan B may just have been your destiny all along.

Houston native and former NFL tight end, FENDI ONOBUN, grew up playing basketball and was touted as one of the nation's best players coming out of high school. He went on to graduate from The University of Arizona where he lettered in basketball. His transition to football was coupled with his academic development as he went on to further his education at The University of Houston as a member of the football team. The former basketball player walked-on the football team and remarkably became the 1st pick of the 6th round in the 2010 NFL Draft. After spending 5 years in the NFL, Fendi moved back to his hometown of Houston, Texas, where he currently resides with his wife Stephanie. Together, the two of them advocate for change in the health and fitness sector of their community. Fendi's experiences have shaped his desire to inspire and impart knowledge to the youth. In his first book, Transition: One Kid's Bank Shot to the NFL, Fendi shares his life story in the hopes that the next generation will realize their potential in the face of adversity. His goal is to inspire the "next man up" to keep faith even when things do not go according to plan--that the impossible can become possible when you believe.
