More than a century ago, people sent postcards like we make phone calls today. Many also collected postcards, even trading them in groups or clubs. Matthew Griffis has published on the use of postcards in historical research and presented on New Orleans postcards at the Louisiana Historical Association's annual conference. He saw New Orleans for the first time in 2011 and has since collected over 1,000 vintage postcards of the Crescent City.
